Heike Pichler-Trosits
Born in Nordhausen/Harz in 1970, she began her career by studying music education at the "Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar". After successfully completing her studies here, she moved on to study song of the Renaissance and Baroque period at the "Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Heidelberg" and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Basel) under the tuition of Gerd Türk and Ulrich Messthaler. In 1995 she graduated in "Konzertexamen für Alte Musik". In 1994 she won the first prize at the Bullinger-Pittler-singing competition. She broadened her studies by completing masterclasses, among others with Susanne Rydén (Stockholm) and Jessica Cash (London). In addition to this, she not only performs as a soloist at numerous concerts, but is also a member of other ensembles who are also dedicated to historical performance practice.
Claudia Nauheim
After obtaining a diploma for teaching recorder with Michael Form, she studied historical performance practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Conrad Steinmann. It was here that she dedicated herself intensively to the study of musical notation, particularly of the Middle Ages, including the Ars Subtilior with Karin Paulsmeier, along with historical improvisation with Richard Erig. Since this time, her own particular interests lie in the period arrangement, especially the Italian diminution. Masterclasses with Walter van Hauwe and Pedro Memelsdorff among others. Claudia Nauheim has already performed under the direction of Joshua Rifkin, Michael Hofstetter, at Basel Theatre, the "Wiesbadener Maifestspiele" and the "Festival Europäischer Kirchenmusik Schwäbisch-Gmünd". Recordings for radio. Since 2005 she teaches historical notation practice at the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig".
Irene Klein
was introduced to early music at a young age, receiving her first lessons on the viol when she was nine. After completing her studies with Paolo Pandolfo at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland with a diploma she rounded off her studies with Roberto Gini at the Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano.
She has been successful as a soloist, winning the second highest prize awarded at the “First International Bach-Abel Competition for the Viol” in Cöthen/Anhalt, Germany in 1997, and an “Honorable Mention” at the “Concours Musica Antiqua” in Bruges/Belgium in 1999.
She is a member of the ensembles Les Flamboyants (Basel), Collegium 1704 (Prague), Bell’Arte Salzburg and the Lautten Compagney (Berlin) and her active concert career has led her to travel throughout Europe.
Renowned directors and musicians, such as Anthony Rooley, Ketil Haugsand, Michael Hofstetter, and René Jacobs appreciate her considerable abilities on the viol and the lirone.
From 1999 to 2001, she taught viol at the Týnská Škola in Prague. Since 2004 she has been teaching at the Leipzig Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy”.
Mechthild Winter
Born in Leipzig. She studied piano at the local music school as well as taking harpsichord lessons with Christiane Schornsheim. Between 1992-1994 she completed her continuing studies in Cembalo with Andreas Staier and thorough-bass with Jesper B. Christensen at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, graduating with a "Diplom für Alte Musik". In 1992 she won second place at the "Internationaler J. S. Bach Wettbewerb" Leipzig. Her active involvement in concerts, both as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles, have taken her both home and abroad. Furthermore, she is highly respected as a correpetitor at international competitions and degree programmes. She has worked on numerous CD, radio and television productions and currently holds a teaching position at the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater" Leipzig.
